- Summary:
-
This travel account has photos and an English 'Postface'. During her travels, Hua states that she met three kinds of people. Firstly those who do not consider themselves as Australians and regard Australia merely as a place to stay. Secondly, there are those living in Australia but still bound to their homeland, sending money back home. And thirdly, there are loyal Australian citizens. Hua comments on immigration and assimilation. She has the impression that the Australian government has done everything possible for indigenous Australians. "The Australian Aborigines are inclined to be lazy, they love to go about naked in groups in the forest and lead a nomadic hunting life. They live on emus and kangaroos baked in clay coating." She then gives a historical overview.
