- Biography/History:

Economist and public servant. John Ffoulkes Richardson was born in 1915 and was educated at Queensland University and Columbia University. Richardson undertook government service in the United States from 1941-1947 and in London from 1953-1957. He was Assistant Secretary in the Department of Trade and Industry in 1958-1968 and represented Australia at many international conferences including UNCTAD. Richardson served as Minister (Commercial) in the Australian Mission to the European Economic Community in 1968-1972 and in 1973 he was appointed Public Service Fellow in the Department of International Relations at the Australian National University.
