Facsimile copy of map of the Government Resident, Langdon Parson's 1887 journey led by Phil Saunders, the party including Maurice Holtz, across Melville Island, N.T., showing route, camps, relief by hachures and notes on topography. Route extends from Elsie Creek, near Cobham Bay, to Brenton Bay and Lethbridge Bay. Includes inset, based on Admiralty chart of Bathurst and Melville Islands, showing start and finish of expedition.

On original "For description of Melville Island by Messers Parson, Saunders, Hingston and Holtze vide report by Govt. Resident 1887 page 11 & Dr 21/52".
