Journal of the schooner "Santa Barbara" of 9 tons from Rockhampton to the Nor-west coast of Australia in search of a safe northern port and harbour, commanded by H. D. Sinclair and kept by William Henry Thomas. James Gordon and Benjamin Poole were passengers in search of country for squatting purposes. The journal covers the period 1st Sept. to 3rd Nov. 1859, and is a manuscript copy. Port Denison was discovered and named during the voyage, the town of Bowen being established there two years later.
