Folkloric recording.

Bill Everill, born in Lithgow, N.S.W. recalls his family background, migrating from England to the Illawara region of New South Wales before WWII; his father's occupation in civil construction (CCC) during WWII; life in Lithgow, N.S.W. during the war years; school years. He recalls various jobs after the war such as working on the Snowy Mountains Scheme 1948/49; PMG (Post Master General) work in Brisbane; National Service; shipping master in the shipping office (Merchant navy). Everill talks about his move to Port Kembla 7 his job on the wharves in Wollongong, N.S.W. & Port Kembla, N.S.W.; 28 week strike by coalminers; membership of the Australian Labor Party at an early age; anecdotes about warfies (i.e. waterside workers) and the merchant navy; his rugby league career.
