Summary

The photographs were taken on Melville Island in 1941 by Roy Pope. At the time he was working as a photographer in Darwin with the Royal Australian Air Force. The photographs document aspects of Tiwi life on Melville Island. Included in the images is the Tiwi Pukamani ceremony.
