Photographs include: Port Moresby, Elevala, Hanuabada, Katea and Gaile; rock paintings at Eriama; portraits of various people including Fr Leon Bourjade and Leonard Murray; Papuans, their homes and activities; various types of boats including the Kerema, Gay Kekeni, Kobe and Elevala.
- Biography/History:

Sir John Hubert Plunkett Murray, 1861-1940, was Chief Judicial Officer of British New Guinea from 1904 to 1908, and Lt.-Gov. of Papua from 1908 to 1940. His nephew H.L. (Leonard) Murray was his private secretary from 1916 onwards and succeeded him as Administrator of Papua from 1940 to 1942.

- Condition: generally good, some photographs have folded edges, and some are coming loose from the album.
- Title from accession record.
- The album contains 80 photographs, with 5 loose photographs, but there are 24 missing items (indicated by glue marks or corner mounts). The first 2 leaves are of a different kind of paper with different types of captions. Some of the photographs are numbered and have captions and a date. The last 7 photographs may be of somewhere other than Papua.
