Arthur Ford, who talks about life in Lithgow, N.S.W. and working at the local Small Arms Factory. Ford speaks of coming to Lithgow in 1935; his schooling; working in the mines; job at the mine pushing 'skips' - 3 pounds per fortnight as pay; conditions at the mines - different size skips; miners on contract - different jobs; going to Queensland during 1949 strike; TUNE: ditty 'My Brother Owned a Brothel at Barcoo' (fragment); TUNE: parody 'Dying Harlot' - fragment; more on droving songs; cattle trails; used to try acts out at union theatre; conditions during the 1949 strike - started in Lithgow; started at Small Arms Factory in 1962; concerts and open days; stories from the oldies; jobs he has had; enjoyed job at S.A.F.; attitude towards women at the S.A.F.
