- T.p. of v. 2 reads: A voyage to the Pacific Ocean undertaken by command of His Majesty, for making discoveries in the northern hemisphere, performed under the direction of Captains Cook, Clerke and Gore in the years 1776, 1777, 1778, 1779, 1780.
- The narrative is written partly in the first person following Cook's journal, and partly in the third person, paraphrased from the official account.
- Illustrations are by Bewick, Beilby and others, and contains an illustration of the death of Cook, engraved by D. Dizars, not found in any other edition of the voyages.

- Spence lists as being issued in 2 or 4 v.
