Born on Oct. 21 1935 in Sydney, Ian Barker was educated at Newington College and qualified as a solicitor in 1960. He was a solicitor based in Alice Springs from 1961-1970, then in Darwin from 1970-1974, then called to the Bar in Aug. 1974.
