See The Holy City, 1949 and caption on negative. "Inseparably associated with events that have their climax in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, are certain traditions connected with spots along the narrow street which winds from the site of the Praetorium to the Church-the Stations of the Cross. A short distance westward from the Praetorium, the Way of the Cross, or Via Dolorosa, is spanned by the Ecce Homo Arch, where popular tradition asserts Pilate brought Jesus forth 'wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe', and presented Him to the multitude with the memorable words, 'Behold the man!' This arch, however, dates from Hadrian (AD 135). In it are enclosed two stones, on which Jesus and Pilate stood at the trial".

Hurley series: Palestine, World War II.

Other number: 28.
