The collection includes (amongst other items): 1. The papers of Frederick Orpen Bower which discuss topics pertaining to botanic gardens, A. Anstruther Lawson and botanical specimens. 2. Correspondence to or from i) Sir Graham Ker, ii) Duncan MacFarlan. 3. Hamilton and MacFie family papers. 4. Papers of Robert Muir, Sir William MacEwen, Sir Robert Horn and Thomas Neville George. 5. Documents dealing with shipbuilding companies such as Upper Clyde Shipbuilders, William Denny and Bros., and mining concerns such as Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons Ltd., etc. All the above items have an Australian, New Zealand and Pacific connection.
