Five scrapbooks containing correspondence, photographs, minutes, articles and invitations, documenting Whiffen's varied career. Included in the material are papers relating to the Whiffen medal, the Canberra Development Board, science schools, and minutes of the ABC's NSW Advisory Council. There is also a folder of loose papers containing correspondence, career details and lists of awards, and a transcript of a talk given by Whiffen on human resource management.

Chemical engineer. Varied scientific and administrative career in public and private sectors. Whiffen was Scientific Attache at the Australian Embassy, Washington, 1943-1948, and was involved in major developments in World War II and post-war. In 1988 he was Chairman of Peptide Technology.
