Volume of writings (229 p.) by John Lawrie, containing poems and narratives of his voyages to India, Australia and elsewhere. The voyages described include a visit to Pitcairn Island in 1822, where Lawrie met the surviving Bounty mutineer, John Adams, and the son of Fletcher Christian (p. 105); a visit to the Torres Strait in 1822, where their vessel was wrecked (p. 129); and a voyage to India in 1825-26 (p. 205). The poems are on various subjects, some relating to his voyages. These include On leaving home 1818 (p. 35), My first night at sea 1818 (p. 37) and On the wreck of the Barque 'Lady Munro' on the island of St Pauls on the night of 11th October 1833 (p. 175), a shipwreck in which the author's brother died. Also included is a description in prose of A night in the South Pacific in 1822 (p. 92).
