Discusses historical background to area; site identification based on reports of 1839 sightings by explorer Lieutenant George Grey; settlement size; form and structure of dwellings; permanency of settlements; degree of sedentism; size and type of settlements; other sites; concludes Nhanda people of Victoria District engaged in agriculture; has reached conclusions on numbers, size, sites and possible sites of settlements; construction of dwellings; that there were different types of settlements ranging from dispersed settlement to villages; that the settlements were probably permanent and residents at least multi-seasonally sedentary; that there were other habitation and settlement sites in the region.
