Blunn firstly talks about his appointment as Permanent Head of the Attorney-General's Dept. which was announced in Jan. 1998, then about his family background, coming to Australia from Blackpool, England in 1938, schooling, first jobs and joining the Commonwealth Public Service in 1957. In 1972 he moved to the city services branch of the Dept. of the Capital Territory and later became Canberra's city manager. From 1980-1981 he was Deputy Secretary of the Dept. of Business and Consumer Affairs, 1983-1987, Permanent Head of Dept. of Housing and Construction, 1987-1991, Secretary of Dept of Arts, Sport, Environment, Tourism and Territories, 1991-1993 Secretary of Dept. of Arts, Sport, Environment and Territories. Blunn talks about his experiences in various Depts. as well as membership of the National Library Council from 1987-1996.
