Margaret Trist, novelist and short story author, was born in Dalby, Queensland and won the Sesquicentenary Short Story Prize in 1938 and was eventually awarded a Commonwealth Literary Fellowship in 1953. Her published works include: "Now that we're laughing" (1945), "Sun on the hills" (1946), "What else is there" (1946), "Daddy" (1946) and "Morning in Queensland" (1958).
