Summary

Herberston speaks of her childhood and education, early dance training, her choice between Ballet Theatre of Queensland and the Queensland Modern Contemporary Dance Company, moving to Sydney to study dance, her description of the Bodenwieser studio, her early choreographic activities in Sydney, teaching at Newtown Infants School, meeting her husband, working in Adelaide at CPA, her choreography for Tasdance including "Watercows", her choreographic approach, going to Jacob's Pillow and the American Dance Festival, her early encounter with Beth Shelton; her career as Joint Artistic Director of Dance Works and later as sole Director, some of her pieces including "Last Stand", "Dance for a Dying Woman", "Physical Business", "Human to Human", making evening length pieces, her collaborators, her work "In the Company of Angels", going to Paris to the Australia Council studio, "Descansos", leaving Dance Works, curating a dance program, the importance of site; and new developments with Jenny Kemp.
