Frontispiece is port. of Cook, engraved at foot of plate: "Accurately drawn from an original painting & engraved by Mr. Thornton ... Sept. 11, 1784." At top of plate: "Frontispiece to Anderson's Large folio edition, etc."

Originally issued in 80 weekly parts.

Title on p. [5] reads: A genuine and complete history of the whole of Capt. Cook's voyages [etc.]

Library's copy at NK5656 is a complete set of the 80 parts, as issued by the publisher - untrimmed and in wrappers; loosely inserted with part 1 is Alexander Hogg's promissory note, which reads: "King's Arms, no. 16 Pasternoster Row, London. If this work should unavoidably exceed eighty numbers, I hereby promise to deliver to each subscriber all above that quantity gratis on producing this my promisory note. And also to return the money for any quantities of number purchased if the whole is not completed in eighty weeks time".; in two boxes (issues 1-40 and 41-80 respectively) with the first bearing the bookplate of Rex de C. Nan Kivell (no. 1784/11).

Library's SRf 3 copy has a contemporary manuscript invoice loosely inserted for payments made 25 May - 1 June 1818.
