Mr James Sharkey, Ambassador of Ireland introduces Mr Haughey, Prime Minister of Ireland, who presents Ireland's Bicentennial Gift to Australia, microfilm of Transportation Records from 1788-1868 from Ireland to Australia, and gives background history to the records, and to the contribution of Irish people to Australia, and reads a poem about Irish-Australian friendship. Prime Minister Hawke and Mr Gary Punch respond.
