Detailed description of visit of the Lady Penrhyn to Tahiti. Includes many references to James Cook, based on Tahitian reminiscences of the latter's visit

Biography/History

The Lady Penrhyn was one of the ships of the First Fleet captained by William Cropton Sever which was chartered by the East India Co. to contine her voyage from New South Wales to China for a cargo of tea, begun in May 1788. Surgeon Bowes in his journal records 32 crew members being on board. The ship arrived back in England mid August 1789.
