Colleen Glasser, a retired school assistant and compiler, was born 1929. She recalls her family background; that her father worked on the railway; family life along the railway line living in railway camps; moving to Beaudesert; mother played tenor banjo in a band and could play banjo mandolin; family coming to Texas, Qld in 1943 where father had the job of station master; life in Texas in 1940's, rabbits and tobacco farming; her job in the telephone exchange; sending telegrams by morse; telephone 'party lines'; going droving with her mother; her husband doing a variety of farm jobs, well sinking, fencing etc; becoming involved in the local Historical Society; the work she did compiling material for a book on tobacco growing. Glasser speaks about the future plans for the museum; the local silver mine 'Silver Spur'; changes in Texas over the years relating to railway closes, migrants, limeworks, tobacco growing, the drift of the young people to the city, local facilities.
