Gero talks about starting her quilt collection and her attraction to American quilts; first exhibition of American quilts in 1983 in Canberra and studying quilt history in the United States. She then talks about crazy quilts; quilt research; waggas or utilitarian quilts and her method of documenting the history of quilts and the need to verify information. Gero then talks about Australian quilts of the nineteenth century; different relationships to quilts by women depending on their position in society; definition of quilt; Keen quilt and patchwork skin rugs. She then discusses her Fellowship of the Royal Society of the Arts and the exhibition, "Sydney quilts, Sydney stories 1811-1970" in 1997. Gero then describes particular quilts; her very first quilt; origin of Lampi quilt; plans for the future; possibility of travelling exhibitions and the Quilt registry.
