MS 8786 mainly relates to Irvin's writings about the history of Australian theatre, but also includes transcripts of some ABC broadcasts on poetry that Irvin made during the 1940s. The papers include correspondence, manuscript and typescript drafts of writings and research material such as biographical files, indexes, newscuttings, photocopies and photographs, and copies of librettos of "Estrella", "Mizpah", "The Black Rover" and "The Wreck of the Pinnafore" (16 boxes, 16 folio boxes).
MS Acc17.079 comprises a notebook of Irvin’s research notes from 1964 on theatre in Australia. The plays are listed alphabetically from ‘Agnes, Or the Bleeding Nun, or Raymond and Agnes’ played 11 June 1827 at Emu Plains to ‘Ziscia the Avenger’ (Belfield) played at the Royal Victoria Theatre on 3 November 1951 (1 folder)
