Hannie Rayson, born 1957, is a freelance journalist, editor, playwright and script-writer. Her plays for stage include "Please Return to Sender" (1980), "Leave it Till Monday" (1984), "Mary" (1985), "Yack" (1985), "Room to Move" (1985), which won an Awgie, and "Hotel Sorrento" (1990). Interested in the question of cultural identity and changing social roles, Rayson presents characters who grapple intellectually and emotionally with shifting contemporary attitudes, often with serio-comic effects.
