Weeden talks about childhood memories; secondary schooling at Fort Street; tertiary studies at university and teachers' college; teaching experiences; WWII service; seconded to Universities Commission which had been set up by Chifley and the development of Commonwealth Scholarships. He then reflects on the Murray Inquiry into Universities, 1957 and discusses the function of the Office of Education and the role of the Australian College of Education. Weeden then reflects on education during the last thirty years and significant times in his career.

Weeden rose to the rank of Head of the Commonwealth Office of Education, Secretary to the Universities Commission, later Head of the Commission, Secretary to the Murray Enquiry into Universities. He was highly involved in the Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme, Colombo Plan, Innovation for Commonwealth to assist States with funding universities and later schools under the Menzies government.
