- Biography/History:

From 1927-1939, Rayner, a zoologist was attached to the "Discovery Committee" Colonial Office, London employed in the service of the Falkland Islands, researching whales. After service with the RNVR during the war Rayner joined CSIRO and was Acting Director of the Dept. of Fisheries in Sydney when he retired in 1954. Rayner was a member of the Royal Geographical Society and of the Linnean Society.
