The papers consist of sermons, addresses, notes, newspaper cuttings, orders of worship of the Congregational National Memorial Church, Canberra, and miscellaneous reports, booklets and pamphlets.
- Biography/History:

Rev. H. S. Read was born in July 1904 and educated at Fort St. High School and Camden Theological College. Before his appointment as Minister of the Congregational National Memorial Church, Canberra, in 1962, the Rev. Read had been a pastor, military chaplain, and Chairman of the Congregational Unions of Tasmania and N.S.W. He retired in June 1971, and died in October of the same year.
