Summary

Papers of Law with some papers of Davidson. Letters are from Dominions and British politicians and discuss subjects such as trade and tariffs, the role of the Dominions in defence, Australian and New Zealand views on Home Rule, shipping and the Paris Economic Conference 1916. There is a large quantity of correspondence on the Dardanelles campaign 1915. Much of the Davidson correspondence is from Sir Ronald Munro-Ferguson.

Biography/History

Law was Secretary of State for the Colonies, 1915-1916, Chancellor of the Exchequer, 1916-1919 and Prime Minister during 1922-23. John Colin Campbell Davidson (1889-1970) was private secretary to Law, 1915-23.
