Summary

Doris Kartinyeri, single mother, author and Indigenous separated child, born 1945, Point McLeay/Raukkan, S.A. Kartinyeri was removed as a baby to Colebrook United Aborigines Mission Home at Eden Hills, S.A. She describes the living conditions at the Home where she lived until the age of 14 when she was sent out to work as a domestic. Kartinyeri speaks about her reunion with her sister and other family members and about her difficulties in establishing connections with them. She also talks about the long-term effects of childhood removal, and about her autobiography entitled 'Kick the tin' and her poetry and children's books.
