MS 7070 comprises correspondence, family papers, diaries, 1939-1945, 1956-1983, notebooks, financial records, drafts of poetry, articles and reviews, research material on James Cook and Ludwig Leichhardt, newspaper cuttings, publications, and photographs. There are also papers of Marcel Aurousseau's father, George. Correspondents include Vance and Nettie Palmer (23 letters, 1937-1963), T. Griffith Taylor, Ralph Middenway, Sir Edgeworth David, Prof. W.G. Woolnough, Frank Sargeson, Lucien Henry, C. Manning Clark, John Garran, Sir Keith Hancock, Patrick White, Arthur Wheen, John Somerville and members of the Aurousseau family (32 boxes, 3 fol. items).


Marcel Aurousseau was a geographer, geologist and writer. He was awarded the University Medal when he graduated as a Bachelor of Science, University of Sydney and was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters, University of Newcastle, in 1973.
