Roper, former member of the New South Wales Legislative Council, speaks about her childhood in South Australia; the Beef Riots; Adelaide during the Depression; political activities of her husband Gilbert; moving to Victoria, and later New South Wales; the Trotskyists; joining the Labor Party; Jim McLelland; the Industrial Groups; activities as a member of the Executive of New South Wales Branch of the Labor Party; Labor Women's Committee; ALP split; equal pay campaign; activities as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council; becoming Deputy Leader of the Party; her union activities; the Whitlam government.
