Stephen Baynes, dancer and choreographer, speaks about his early childhood in Adelaide, his early interest in music and how his involvement in ballet from age 14 made school increasingly irrelevant. He discusses his perpetual love of acting and opera, how he convinced his father to let him do ballet, the influence of his first teacher, Joanne Priest who insisted on a broad grounding in the arts, and her association with Peggy van Praagh and the Australian Ballet. He talks about how ballet has outgrown its classical context and how he sees himself as a choreographer,
