Dr Davies recalls his early childhood in England; studying for the ministry at St. John's Theological College, Morpeth, N.S.W.; pastoral care during the Depression; his war service; setting up the Toc H hostels in the Middle East in the early 1940s; becoming a RAAF Chaplin during WWII stationed in the Middle East; post war study & chaplaincy at St. John's College, Brisbane; being posted to the Wagga parish; his return to Morpeth as Warder of St. John's Theological College, Assistant Bishop of Newcastle; his appointment as Bishop of Tasmania; the first Synod and first Lambeth Conference he attended. He speaks about church issues such as missionary work around Australia & abroad; youth synod; politics and the role of the church; social welfare issues such as the introduction of poker machines into the community; christian education on an interdenominational basis in schools; the structure of the Australian Anglican Church.

Dr Davies, migrated to Australia from England with his parents when he was 12 years old; started in the Anglican Church in 1932 and was ordained at Newcastle, N.S.W. in 1937; for one year (1942) served as Australian chaplain to run the Toc H Organisation's hostels for the troops in the Middle East; joined the RAAF as the only chaplain in the Middle East area for nearly 5 years; 1946 appointed Vice-Warden of St. John's College, Brisbane given the job of helping men coming back from the war and returning to university; 1949 appointed Rector & Archdeacon of Canberra; 1953 appointed Rector & Archdeacon of Wagga; 1960 returned to St. John's College as Warden & consecrated Assistant Bishop of Newcastle; 1963-1981 Bishop of Tasmania.
