V.1 and 2 are bound in quarter Alum goatskin leather with oak boards. V. 1 is accompanied by a general introduction to the set, containing bibliographical information. There are 382 folios of the ms. in two v.

The facsim., is full-colour, made by continuous-tone offset lithography from the disbound original. The translation is from the Victoria histories of the counties of England, updated and brought into line with recent scholarship.

The two coins set into the inside cover of v. 1 are a silver penny of William the Conqueror, 1086, and a 1986 bronze penny of Elizabeth II.

Ed. limited to 250 copies, signed by Baron Hailsham of Saint Marylebone, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britian, and G.H. Martin, Keeper of Public Records.

This facsim. was published to coincide with the 900th anniversary of the Domesday book in 1986.
