Akehurst speaks about his missionary parents, Len and Dorothy Akehurst, and their early work with the Aboriginal Inland Mission (AIM). In 1929, the Akehursts resigned from AIM to join the Christian Brethren Assemblies, and worked around Burketown, Qld. providing medical care to local Aboriginal people. In 1932 the family moved to the Aboriginal reserve at Doomadgee, where they were involved in the foundation of Doomadgee Mission. They remained at Doomadgee until 1935 when they returned to Sydney. Akehurst talks about his involvement with Doomadgee Incorporated and about the Bringing Them Home inquiry.
