Summary

Karathanasis, a clinical psychologist, speaks about his migration from Jerusalem to Australia in 1955 and about his Masters degree in psychology from the University of Western Australia. He was bonded to the Department of Child Welfare for two years, and then consulted at Mogumber Training Centre from 1969 until 1976. He talks about his work as a clinical psychologist assessing Wards of the State, the behavioural problems exhibited by these children, and the training in child development he provided to staff of institutions dealing with children. Karathanasis reviews his work at Sister Kate's Children's Home, New Norcia Mission and Cundeelee Mission, and outlines the long-term effects of institutional care.
