The bulk of the papers in MS 9385 comprises 84 volumes, which record in diary format, a wide range of Bomford's life experiences including the major events of his professional life, among them secondments to surveys in Tanganyika (1953-1955), South Georgia (1955-1956) and Australia (1958-1960). These handwritten diaries are supplemented by 40 typed "illustrated diaries" produced on his return from numerous trips. The remainder of the collection comprises photograph albums, family correspondence, certificates and reprints of articles by Bomford. There is a catalogue with colour plates titled "Tony Bomford's seventeen hand-knotted rugs, made in Canberra, Australia 1974-1988" (21 boxes, 1 carton, 18 fol. boxes).

The Acc09.010 instalment comprises a lever arch file titled "Old South Georgia letters", on topics including preparations for SGS 1955-1956, technical detail of finalising DOS 610, Carse's abortive planning for an Allardyce-Salvesen Expedition, and his Ducloz Head "experiment in solitude". The letters have been numbered and indexed, and a copy of the index placed in the folder (1 box).
