Summary

Copy no. 2 of Short stories (1942), signed and inscribed to his close friend Joy Robinson. Accompanying the volume are two short notes, one written by Porter and one by Robinson, together with five newspapers clippings of reviews of, and stories by, Porter.

Biography/History

Born in Melbourne, but growing up in Bairnsdale, Victoria, Porter later won almost every major Australian literary award, some of them more than once. In 1942 fourteen of his stories were published in a limited edition, titled Short stories.
