Boyle talks about his family background; development of interest in poetry at St. Ignatius College, Riverview and doing Arts at Sydney University. He then discusses his experiences with polio and incorporating it in his poetry. Boyle then talks about his early writing experiences, in particular, "From a window in Mosman"; overseas travel; teaching experiences; views on Germany and doing a MA in Spanish and Latin American Studies at University of New South Wales in 1990 and teaching in TAFE. He then discusses writing poetry, being published and winning the Wesley Michael Wright Poetry Award in 1992.
Boyle then talks about the types of poetry he was writing at the time; translating poetry and the work involved and his collection, "Coming home from the world" and its publication. He then discusses the importance of awards to poetry and his work, "The blue clouds of crying"; concept of his work as social poetry; importance of poetry in life and current activities. Boyle then describes the process of writing and editing and reads the following poems, 'Separation', 'When eagles pause to talk with your sleeping body', 'Justine', 'Dialogues with a kite' and 'Kinderszenen'.
