Editor and journalist. Since coming to Australia in 1960 Barrie Ovenden has edited staff magazines, trade papers and more recently, the first national magazine for Aboriginals, Identity. She contributed the biographical notes for "Mary Gilmore: a tribute", which was published in 1965, and she was the first editor of The Australian author. In 1975 she edited The Australian and New Zealand Writers' Handbook which was published for the Australian Society of Authors.
