Summary

MS Acc03/211 comprises correspondence, diaries, an autobiography, playscripts, programs, a book, and three cassettes.

The Acc04/112 instalment includes press cutting albums, card albums, drafts, programs and publications.

The Acc05/25 instalment comprises posters and photographs.

The Acc05/79 instalment consists of school reports, letters, photographs, scrap albums and record of career.

Biography/History

Actor and playwright. Born Hugh Williamson on 31 January, 1917 in Sydney, Hastings was an expatriate playwright and actor. The dramatic works Hastings published include, Seagulls over Sorrento: a play in three acts (1951), Inner circle: a play in three acts (1952), and, Red dragon: a play in two acts (1952). Seagulls over Sorrento, which opened in London in 1950, was one of British theatre's most successful post-war comedies. The play was filmed in 1954 with Gene Kelly in the leading role. Hastings died on 26 November, 2004 in England.
