- Summary:

The Sunday Panel. 1. Australian telecommunications descend into chaos over a worsening dispute between Telecom Australia and the AustralianTelecommunications Employees Association (ATEA). At the same time NASA announces that Skylab is to fall to earth in a couple of days, who knows where. It would be nice to know. 2. With network shutdowns around the country a distinct possibility, some emergency channels will no doubt be kept open - for certain international sports events, for instance. 3. With industrial disputes breaking out all over the place, Bob Hawke, President of the ACTU agrees to attend a summit of peak bodies called by Tony Street, Minister for Industrial Relations in the Fraser Government, to try and speed up the process of arbitration. Hawke might bring some of his own ideas to the talks. 4.The US celebrates Independence Day in the midst of a fuel shortage crisis that has President Jimmy Carter groping for solutions. Just imagine! US motorists waiting in queues at service stations. 5. In the wake of Idi Amin's overthrow in Uganda, the Moshi Agreement (forged by Ugandan exiles in the hope of establishing a true democratic government) falls apart when Amin's hapless successor, Professor Lule plays tribal favourites in the attempt to assemble the new government.--Information provided by Geoff Pryor.
