The Romaine papers consist of newspaper clippings, theatre programs, photographs, and printed items, including copies of Tempo, On Target and Guinea Gold. The latter two relate to Romaine's work entertaining troops in Papua New Guinea during World War II.

W.H. ("Billy") Romaine was an American-born composer, jazz musician and dance band conductor. His many appointments included those of musical director of the Tivoli Theatre, Brisbane, and of the White City Ball Room, Sydney.
