MS 4951 comprises typescripts of books, correspondence, photographs and material gathered during Clune's research. For the purpose of his research, Clune kept diaries of his journeys and collected published Australiana. A number of the printed items in the collection are ephemeral or rare.The papers consist of correspondence, photographs and typescripts and sources of published and unpublished works. Material includes letters from P.R. Stephensen, Geoffrey Dutton, Cardinal Norman Gilroy and Noel Coward; typescripts of "Serenade to Sydney" (1967); "The Scottish martyrs" (1969) and "Captain Bully Hayes" (1970); and copies of original published and unpublished Australiana from the 18th to 20th century. The collection also includes ten World War I and II miniature medals.
MS Acc22.180 comprises photocopies of correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, family history material, birth, marriage, and death certificates, painted portraits and other artworks. Among the photocopied portraits are William Dobell's portrait of Frank Clune and Thelma Clune, and William Dargie's portrait of Western Arrernte artist Albert Namatjira. The copies of correspondence includes letters relating to Frank Clune's publications, and a copy of a letter Clune wrote from Egypt to his mother on the 20 August 1915.

Writer, broadcaster, journalist. Wounded Gallipoli, 1915; Honorary Major in the Australian Comfort Fund in Libya, Palestine and New Guinea, 1942-1943. The author of over sixty books on travel, autobiography, Australiana and biography.
