Air pilot and navigator on long-range solo flights and surveys of Indian Ocean and Pacific routes. Flew as captain with Australian National Airlines, 1930-1931. Flew with Kingsford-Smith in the Southern Cross as second pilot and navigator, 1933-1935. Navigator aboard Charles Ulm's Faith in Australia, 1933. Published books dealing with his experiences.
