Summary

Bowden was the 10th in a family of 11 children. When he was 2 years old his mother died and he and his siblings were removed to Bomaderry Children's Home near Nowra, N.S.W. He describes the living conditions at Bomaderry. At the age of 10, he was transferred to Kinchela Boys' Home in Kempsey. He describes the harsh conditions at Kinchela. Bowden left Kinchela at the age of 18 and has subsequently spent a total of 28 years in various New South Wales prisons, before becoming an Aboriginal Liaison Officer assisting Aboriginal youth in the court system. He discusses the effect of removal on his family and gives his views on the "Sorry" debate.
