Extracts from letters to Sir John describing an overland trip from Melbourne to Sydney in 1839 (manuscript copy). Extract from letter to her sister, Mrs. Simpkinson, describing visit to South Australia, 1841, with an account of the Flinders memorial (4 p.).

Lady Jane Franklin, nee Griffin, second wife of Sir John Franklin, Lt. Governor of Tasmania, 1836-1843. Lady Franklin took a great interest in the affairs of the colony, made a number of overland journeys in Australia and concerned herself with scientific research, public education and convict welfare.
