Davis describes his childhood and family background; early families along the upper Deua River; the Rankin's droving turkeys to Moruya; Black Alec, an Aborigine who lived at Cooranbene; connection of electricity in 1963; receiving their first radio broadcast in 1940; isolation after heavy rain; Vern's brother Everett being the first person to drive across Moodong Creek; receiving yearly stores from McIlraith's in Sydney; appearance of kangaroos along the Deua from 1943; dingoes and working as a dogger in 1960s; shooting a white dingo; death of Dick Naggs; Dick Dempsey; learning from the radio; working for John Bradly, Murray Hyland and Keith Harrison; his record collection of country music; only leaving the property to pick up mail; floods; 1953 bushfire; open fire cooking at Woolla; lining kitchen before Christmas with newspaper; installation of solar telephone in 1987.

Biography/History

Davis has spent almost all his life living in a slab hut on his family property, Woolla, on the isolated Deua River near Araluen, N.S.W.
