Professor Maria Skyllas-Kazacos, Head School of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry, University of N.S.W., talks about her family background; schooling at Fort Street Girls High School; decision to become a scientist and tertiary studies at University of N.S.W. She then talks about her PhD on electrochemical studies of molten salts; post-doctoral fellowship; balancing family and work committments and her involvement in battery research. Skyllas-Kazacos then talks about career prospects in Australia; women and science and encouraging girls to take up science and her plans for the future.
